Friday, February 13th, 2009Time to clear your wardrobe
Monday, February 9th, 2009Too much cloths and you find your wardrobe full just like me? Well, we can either
- Buy a new wardrobe
- Or clear out those cloths which are old or those impulse buys!
I picked the second option. CLEAR those cloths of mine. I categorize the cloths to clear into 2 types:
- Old cloths - No point keeping cloths that have holes or faded colors. You can keep a few of them so that you have old cloths to wear while house-cleaning your home in future!
- Impulse buys and you never ever wear it! Not even once - Surely, you have this kind of cloths at home. haha. So what is the point of leaving it in your wardrobe? Either give it to someone who suits it or start a flea market stall to sell those cloths. Gather your friends who are interested to sell their cloths in a flea market and you can have fun at the same time.
Be ruthless and clear those cloths!
Know what your CPF can do for you
Friday, January 30th, 2009Do you know that in your CPF, you have
- Ordinary Account - the savings can be used to buy a home, pay for CPF insurance, investment and education.
- Special Account - for old age, contingency purposes and investment in retirement-related financial products.
- Medisave Account - the savings can be used for hospitalization expenses and approved medical insurance.
And do you know that:
- If you are 35 years old or younger, your employee pays 14.5% of your salary to CPF while you pay 20% of your salary to CPF
I don’t know the details until recently when I started to study my CPF. And do you know that
- CPF pays 2.5% per annual interest for your money in Ordinary Account
- is 4% per annual interest for your money on your Special and Medisave Account
- An extra 1% of interest will be paid on the first $60,000 of the Account’s combined balances, with up to $20,000 from the OA.
If you don’t know the above as well, please visit CPF to find out more details. It is important to ‘manage’ your CPF as most of us will use it to buy one of our most expensive investment in our lifetime, which is a home.

Friday, January 23rd, 2009Starting a Blog: To blog or not to blog
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009This is part of my new on-going series on starting a blog. Target audience are people who are new to blogging and also those who been writing a blog but who want to start a new blog again.
I been blogging for about 2 years, the 2 hardest part of blogging is
- To blog or not to blog
Not enough time. We always hear complains from people of not having time to do this and that. And yes, i also do not have enough time. Previously, I am holding a full-time job, studying part-time and learning web technologies. Rule of the thumb is that you should only focus on 3 main task at one time. So finding time to blog was tough with the above 3 task I have on hand. But now, I just completed my studies in 2008. Come 2009, I can manage my time and set a schedule to blog. To start off my blog, I aim to have just 1 post a week. Enough content to keep my audience glue to my blog.
So do you think you can blog? Find out if you could set aside time to blog once a week to start off with. Once you get the hang of it, blogging will be part of your life - Finding what to blog about
The aim of my first blog infigaro.com is more related to my personal life. Somehow, i find it hard to share certain aspects of my life so as times goes by, I have less and less to blog about. My second blog, mobile.islikethat.com talks about useful online software which we can all make use of. I love this blog and yet at the same time, I felt i can do more. My 3rd blog is about life in SG in richbudgetman.com. However I find lack of direction for this blog. At the time of writing this, i would have redirect the above blogs to CIOdotcom.
So my advise to blog on a topic which you have interest in or you have experience with. I have interest in the Dot Com world and also have experience to share from the views of a CIO. That is why CIOdot.com is born
I am ready to blog, are you ready to blog?

Alien TYC 2009 resolutions
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009A new year means a fresh start and new objectives. I find it important to list down the goals I need to achieve for the year. This list acts as a constant reminder to me on what promised to myself to achieve by end of 2009.
- Health
Health is the number 1 most important asset of my life. By staying healthy, all of my resolutions below will be achievable. To stay healthy, I will exercise at least twice a week by jogging, going to the gym, swim, play football, skate and cycle. I understand that there will be a wavepool attraction in Sentosa by end of this year. There will be artificial waves up to 3m high! WOW! A sports which I want to try as well. And of course I need to eat well, sleep enough and stay happy. - Relationship
I would like to meet more buddies online/offline and enlarge my network and create relationships with people who are interested in the hobbies I am having fun with - Technology
I will learn and be a expert to develop LAMP web sites and also get involved in developing apps for Google Android Phone! By end of the year, I will be able create interesting websites and useful applications - CIO Dot Com Blog
I will blog once a week and ensure the contents to be of interested to you. I will make use of SEO and online marketing to ‘broadcast’ my blog online - Career
This will be the year whereby I will be an “expert” in the using Open Source System for Business and hopefully I get rewards with a bigger pay check - Finance & Accounting
I need to save 35% of my salary per month and make my money work harder. I will also learn about accounting in a business which will help in my future ventures. - Personal development
Sawadee Khap, I always have interest in the Thai Language. Now, I am only able to speak basic Thai and by year end, I will be able to speak fluently. Presentations skills have to be improve so that I can ’sell’. To achieve that, I will have to practise and conduct more presentation.
Sounds a lot to achieve for 2009 but hey, I have 12 months to do so.
If you not state your goals to achieve for 2009, it is still early days and you can start planning today

- Complete my part-time Unisim degree - 100% accomplish

I am officially a Degree holder! - Networking, make new friends and maintain with old - 20%

Using social networking sites such as facebook, I did enlarge my network and keep in touch with old friends. However, I was not able to get to know more friends in the areas of web and business - Stay healthy and fit - 80%

I did jog and gym often. Went skate once in a while and swam - Internet knowledge - 10%
